Rising Sophomores and Juniors at BHS have the opportunity to apply to the First Port City Bank Youth Leadership Program facilitated by the Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce.  The purpose of the First Port City Bank Youth Leadership Program is to help students develop leadership skills, provide volunteer opportunities, increase awareness of community issues, and explore city and county resources.

 

Students who apply must:

  • attend school in Decatur County. 

  • have not participated in the First Port City Youth Leadership Program in past years. If they were nominated in past years but did not participate, he/she may be nominated again.

  • be in good academic, attendance, and behavioral standing at BHS.

  • agree to actively participate in a mandatory retreat and attend monthly classes, with the kick-off typically at the end of July or beginning of August (monthly classes are normally on a weekday and last for approximately 1 1/2 hours while the kick-off typically lasts several hours).

  • be willing to participate in service and community leadership projects outside of class sessions.

  • miss no more than two excused absences during the duration of the leadership course (which typically spans from August to February).

  • pay a small registration fee (approximately $25.00, which is not due until accepted into the program). All other expenses are covered by the program sponsor.

  • complete the 2024-2025 First Port City Youth Leadership Application and process sent to you by the Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce by the set deadline.

 

The Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce will provide more information to those who qualify using the emails, addresses, and telephone numbers entered on the nomination form once nominations are completed. Parents, students, community members, and school staff may make nominations using one of the methods below:

  • complete the Google Form sent out in text message and email to the numbers and emails on file in Infinite Campus. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, April 24th at 12 PM.

  • complete the Google Form sent out in your counselors BAND and/or REMIND by Wednesday, April 24th at 12PM.

  • complete the Google Form in your counselor's Google Classroom by Wednesday, April 24th at 12PM.

  • complete the Google Form using the QR Code posted on your counselor's door by Wednesday, April 24th at 12PM.

  • complete the Google Form posted to the BHS Guidance and Counseling website by Wednesday, April 24th at 12PM.

  • complete the Google Form posted to the BHS Website by Wednesday, April 24th at 12PM.
